Suiseki - Art - Hach

My name is Michael Hach

This page is supposed to show what Suiseki is to all people who are interrested.

I was born in 1964 and am practicing Suiseki since 1996. I was merely collecting stones in the beginning like so many other people.

Later I heard about Suiseki.

Some sort of Art which has been known throughout Asia for 2000 years. Stones become more and more beautiful and valuable similar to Bonsai. The so-called Patina is created merely by touching them. Old Suiseki with especially beautiful Patian can achieve very high prices when sold.

So can one get ahold of such stones ?

Acquisition of Suiseki :

The easiest way is buying a Suiseki OR

  • Searching
  • Speaking with a collector who probably sells one or another stone

On this homepage you will find some pages with raw material. Those are stones with small or very little Patina for the interrested beginner. I of course also have stones that leave no wishes unfulfilled.

Suiseki places of finding:

I find Ligurian stonesnear Genua. They hang upside-down in cracks in the rocks and are covered with a very hard layer of laterite. The Bretagne also has some beaches with black stones which are being polished in the sands ever since the beginning of time. Many stones are surfaced by boars or rainfalls in the Provence. They are very hard and wonderfully designed.
